A black and white portrait captures emotion and mood that sometimes doesn't show through in a colour photograph. It is a timeless classic style that never dates. It can be more comfortable for the eye to rest on, as the viewer is not distracted by the many colours on the photo.
As I love black and white so much, I always include a black and white portrait when clients come in for the viewing session, so they can decide for themselves what they would like. Offering a variety of each is nice.
If you prefer black and white to colour, just let me know. I can present all of your portraits in black and white if you prefer.
In this particular photo, Erica was wearing a bright red dress, which I love, but including this photograph added to the variety of styles. The red dress doesn't distract your eye, so the focus remains on her face, which is exactly how a portrait should be.
This image is timeless and will never go out of style. I am sure when she has her own children, they will cherish this photo of her and not look at it thinking that the style of the photograph has dated.
